Biography:
New York native, Miami - base DJ/Producer George Morel has
earned worldwide recognition spreading his unique blend of
House music in legendary nightclubs to dance audiences
around
the world.
During the summer 2003 and 2004, Morel was invited to have a
headline residency in Ibiza at Privilege becoming an
overnight success and the third best night for the club
following the infamous Manumission and the very local
Balearic People. Coming back to Ibiza in 2005 at a brand new
club called Penelope in honor to Morel and his record label
Groove On. Morel has
also appear as a guest DJ in Pacha, Amnesia, El Divino and
Space for Carry On.
Morel had his first experience with turntables at the age of
thirteen playing at neighborhood parties in his native New
York. Later on, he became a regular at some of New York's
most notorious nightspots such as Red Zone, Palladium, Traxs
and Save The Robots. These experiences led to his first
production in 1989, with the late David Cole of C+C Music
Factory,
" Our Love Is Over" (featuring Dee Halloway) soon after in
1990, he produced and wrote 'Wiggle It" by 2 In A Room,
which became an overnight global success, leading him to his
first gold record. That same year, Morel began full-time
collaboration with C+C Music Factory working on arrangements
and edits for Mariah Carey, C+C Music Factory and Lisa Lisa.
These
partnerships led to four gold records, 3M tape award and one
platinum record within two years.
In 1992, Morel became the Vice President of A&R at Strictly
Rhythm Records. At which time, he also took on the position
of “In-House” Producer and Write for the label. During his
seven years at Strictly Rhythm , he worked with producers
and artist such as Mood 2 Swing, Felix Da House Cat, Erick
Morrillo, Sandy Rivera (K.O.T.) , DJ Pierre, Roy Davis Jr.,
Barbara Tucker,
CeCe Rogers, Roland Clark and Ultra Nate, as well as many
other producers, recording artist to name and of-course his
infamous releases Morel’s Groove Volumes creating his own
style and sound ahead of time... Morel’s hard work and
dedication was celebrated with some additional several
Billboard Music Awards, another gold record and the
worldwide recognition
success of the dance label Strictly Rhythm Records.
Later in 1998, Morel took a step further by combining his
musical experience and savvy business knowledge to form his
company Groove On Productions and label Groove On Records.
In addition to his productions Morel is also one of the
voters for the Grammy remixed category.
Morel also participated in several DJ tours and Parades
worldwide including Carmel Air Rave which featured a
chartered plane from Germany To Greece, making Morel the
only DJ that has ever played on a plane; Reebok DJ Tour,
Puskin Vodka DJ Tour, Ministry of Sound in Germany Tour, MTV
DJ Tour, Coca Cola DJ-Culture Tour, Ritmo De Bacardi, eight
consecutive years at the infamous Love Parade in Berlin,
Rock In Rio (Brazil), Street Parade (Switzerland) and City
Parade (Belgium). In addition, Morel continues to produce
his highly successful CD mix compilations such as Casa

Morel’s consistent strive and deep passion for music
continues to be demonstrated through his work on productions,
deejaying and his company Groove On Productions.
Der gebürtige New Yorker und in Miami ansässige DJ und
Produzent George Morel erntet bis heute weltweit Anerkennung
für seine einzigartige House-Melange, die er in legendären
Nachtclubs geneigtem Dancepublikum auf der ganzen Welt
präsentiert.
Im Sommer 2003 und 2004 wurde Morel vom ibizenkischen Club
Privilege eingeladen, eine Headline Residency zu etablieren,
welche sofort einschlug und zur drittbesten Clubnight, nach
Manumission und Balearic People, avancierte. Auch 2005
kehrte Morel in Ibiza ein, diesmal im neuen Penelope Club,
wo seine "Goove On" Night nun beheimatet ist. Als Gast DJ
performte er zudem auch im Pacha, Amnesia, El Divino sowie
im Space für Carry On.
Seine ersten Erfahrungen mit Plattenspielern sammelte Morel
im zarten Alter von 13 als er auf Parties in seiner New
Yorker Nachbarschaft auflegte. Später spielte er dann
regelmäßig den berüchtigsten Spots NYC's wie Red Zone,
Palladium, Traxs oder Save the Robots. Diese Erfahrungen
ebneten den Weg für die erste Produktion " Our Love Is Over"
(featuring Dee
Halloway)1989 zusammen mit David Cole vom späteren Projekt
C+C Music Factory. Kurze Zeit später schrieb und produzierte
Morel "Wiggle It" von 2 In A Room, das über Nacht ein
weltweiter Erfolg wurde und ihm seine erste goldene
Schallplatte einbrachte. Im gleichen Jahr begann Morel full
time mit C+C Music Factory an Arrangements und Edits für
Mariah
Carey, C+C Music Factory und LisaLisa zu arbeiten. Diese
Kooperationen bescherten ihm 4 goldene Schallplatten, 3M
Tape Award und eine Platin Schallplatte innerhalb von 2
Jahren.
1992 stieg Morel als A&R Vizepräsident bei Strictly Rhythm
Record ein. Gleichzeitig arbeitete er als "In-House"
Produzent und Songwriter für das Label. Während seines
siebenjährigen Engagements bei Strictly Rhythm arbeitete er
mit zahlreichen Produzenten und Künstlern wie Mood 2 Swing,
Felix Da House Cat, Erick Morrillo, Sandy Rivera (K.O.T.) ,
DJ Pierre, Roy Davis Jr., Barbara Tucker, CeCe Rogers,
Roland Clark und Ultra Nate und vielen anderen zusammen und
schuf mit seinen berüchtigten "Morel's Groove Volumes"
Releases seinen eigenen Style und einen Sound, der seiner
Zeit voraus war. Morel's harte Arbeit und Hingabe wurde mit
zahlreichen weiteren Billboard Music Awards, einer weiteren
Goldenen Schallplatte und weltweiter Anerkennung und dem
Erfolg des Dance Labels Strictly Rhythm belohnt.
1998 dann unternahm Morel den nächsten logischen Schritt.
Seine langjährige musikalische Erfahrung und seine
Fähigkeiten als Businessman waren ideale Voraussetzungen für
die Gründung seiner Firma Groove
On Productions und des Groove On Labels. Neben seiner
Produktionstätigkeit ist Morel auch Mitglied der Grammy-Jury
für die Kategorie "Remixed".
Morel nahm bislang auch an einigen DJ Touren und Paraden
weltweit teil, darunter der Camel Air Rave, bei dem ein
gechartertes Party-Flugzeug von Deutschland nach
Griechenland flog.
Morel ist somit der einzige DJ auf der Welt, der je in einem
Flugzeug gespielt hat. Weitere nennenswerte Events waren die
Reebok DJ Tour, Puskin Vodka DJ Tour, Ministry of Sound in
Germany Tour, MTV DJ Tour, Coca Cola DJ-Culture Tour, Ritmo
De Bacardi, 8 Jahre in Folge
bei der berühmten Love Parade in Berlin, Rock In Rio
(Brasilien), Street Parade (Schweiz) und City Parade
(Belgien).
